Overview

The Skeleton Key returns as a limited edition collaboration with Ty Kirsch of Chute Yea Designs, whose meticulous anodizing work has earned a dedicated following in the EDC community. Kirsch approaches titanium with the mindset of both craftsman and scientist, relying on precision, patience, and clean process over expensive equipment. Every piece begins with careful prep and is handled only with gloves from start to finish to preserve the purity of the surface and the integrity of the color.

Working from his home garage, Kirsch uses simple tools, sharp discipline, and a deep understanding of the chemistry behind anodizing to create vivid, one-of-a-kind finishes. Each pattern is layered by hand, never laser cut, producing controlled results born from repetition and refined technique rather than automation.

Milled from solid Grade 5 titanium, the Skeleton Key is a precision-built companion to your everyday knife, ready for the cutting, prying, and turning tasks that shouldn’t fall to your blade. Its flat edge can open boxes, the pry tip and driver handle daily utility, and the integrated E-key and bottle opener add versatility to pocket or keychain carry. The Skeleton Key was built to supplement your capabilities in any situation. Each anodized S Key carries its own fingerprint of process and material.

Behind the Scenes with Chute Yea Designs:

With a degree in Industrial Design and Development from Sam Houston State, Ty’s "9-5" is spent working for a family owned business in remodeling and new construction.

His EDC interest sparked on a flight after struggling with a cold and wishing for a hanky. A search for "Pocket Hanky" led him to "Pocket Dump" flat lays. Ty started collecting, quickly focusing on lightweight, anodizable titanium. After an expensive service, he taught himself anodizing.

Following extensive research, Ty launched Chute Yea Designs, moving from an apartment setup to his current garage workshop. Ty credits Jon Brown, David Beck, Barry Orsatti, Phillip Atchison, Doug Burgess and Felicia Embacher for being willing to help work through issues he ran into when he was getting started and being invaluable resources throughout his time of anodizing and metalworking. Starting with anodizing services, he later designed his own products, blending his EDC and golf passions to create Birdhouse Golf Co. Quoting Ty “My success is built on the trust of collectors and brands like Triple Aught Design, allowing me to transform pieces into heirlooms.”
