Overview

Todd Rexford is known for producing some of the finest folders offered today. His commitment to precision manufacturing, modern aesthetic, and amazingly intricate builds is well known. As his first fixed blade in years, the Massless had to live up to these standards. Not only did the knife surpass that but his unique Theta Sheath System is so innovative it comes with a pending patent.

The Mini Massless is Rexford’s classic combination of thoroughly modern and eminently usable design. Magnacut steel and black Tecnocarbo scales have been expertly machined to reduce the weight of this EDC sized fixed blade. The balance and weight of this 7.05” OAL knife is shockingly light the first time you pick it up. The modified drop point combined with Magnacut steel at 62.5 RC can handle all tasks with ease. The black TecnoCarbo handles with our triple fullers offer perfect traction on a secure grip with no hot spots.

The Theta Sheath System (patent pending) is something truly unique. It is a fast forward draw, full locking, sheath system that utilizes a spring loaded locking cam. The sheath backbone consists of two pieces of aluminum with a Kydex section in between. It is completely ambidextrous and the cam can be placed on either side by the end user.

The backbone has standard 3/4" hole spacing to accommodate mounting of a wide variety of the commercially available belt loops, clips, angle and cant plates, or hard mounts. Attachment hardware and sheath hardware are standard binding posts and screws.

This sheath is not only innovative and unique due to its locking and deployment system, but the machining itself offers a weight-reducing terraced pattern that is visually striking as well as incredibly lightweight.

Finer points include our triple fullers on the TechnoCarbo handles and our logo mirroring Rexford, diamond dragged at the base of the blade.

Due to the nature of custom items, slight variations may occur.

Sheathing and Unsheathing:

Operation is via rotation of the locking cam, releasing the locking cam from the knife scales. The knife can then be removed out of the sheath. Sheathing is done by lining up the belly of the knife into the sheath track and then pushing forward. This will rotate the locking cam until it slides into the scale slots, locking the knife back into the sheath. The end user needs to ensure the locking cam has fully engaged.

Cleaning:

Cleaning of the TSS can be accomplished using simple soap and water. The track should be clear of dirt or debris and all areas around the locking cam should be clean. Sometimes disassembly of the TSS is needed. The cam spindle and its spring should be free of dirt and debris. Scale slots in the knife are connected via a space in the tang of the blade and can be cleaned by flushing the cleaning solution through the slots.

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH Rexford Knives:

Todd Rexford’s love of knives and the machining process was instilled in him by his father from a young age. He graduated with an engineering degree and has been making knives ever since. Rather than stick with one process that he knows works, Rexford has dedicated himself to constantly improving his work by keeping up-to-date on new materials and procedures. His experience, discipline and thirst for knowledge ensures his designs, styles, and machining processes are always cutting edge and trusted the world over by top tier collectors and end users.

Theta Sheath System Manual

The Theta Sheath is a quick deployment minimalist sheath system designed to accommodate a range of attachment or mounting options. Mount spacing is ¾”. Mounts can be added to either side of the system. The locking cam can be placed on either side. Cam screws are different lengths and the longer screw should be used against the locking cam. Care needs to be taken when seating the cam onto the spindle as the fit is very tight and deformation of parts can take place if the screw is tightened when the alignment is incorrect.
