Overview

The Peña Custom Rio Grand is a front flipper design so meticulously crafted it has the feel of a family heirloom. This Loveless inspired knife sets itself apart with classic material choices and Enrique Peña’s commitment to precision.

The Rio Grande is perfectly sized and executed as a classic gentleman's folder. This front flipper has the look of a scaled down Loveless fixed blade. Subtle ,elegant lines paired with classic materials and colors make the intention clear. With Enrique’s attention to fit and finish it is also a pleasure to use. This edition features a snag-free front flipper design. In lieu of thumb studs, the tang of the blade has fine machined grooves for traction. The knife has a blasted titanium bolster, clean lines and a classic swedged drop point blade flawlessly ground from CPM 154. The modern elements of a ceramic bearing flipper nest the blade perfectly in the bolster lock handle when closed. Deployment is effortless from the front flipper, followed by a smooth strong lock up. The bolster lock chassis comes with classic micarta slabs in either OD green or natural with red G10 accents. Added color is provided to the muted pallet with a Mokuti 3D pocket clip. The Peña Custom Rio Grande is a perfect example of a modern gentleman's knife finished with exceptional detail. A fitting tribute to Loveless, the Rio Grande will become a classic in its own right.

Behind the Scenes with Peña Knives 

Enrique Peña has had a lifelong fascination with knives that led him to open his own shop in 2005 in Laredo, Texas. Known for traditional patterns of exceptional fit and finish, he has honed his craft making the classics. He credits his friend Armando Flores for helping him with his first knife. Later it was Bill Ruple and Rusty Preston that helped to refine his skills. Enrique is not only an exceptional knifemaker but a talented leather worker as well. He has recently been branching out into modern designs that retain classic elements and the superlative fit and finish he is known for.
