Overview

The LumaBlades Calypto is a stunning gentleman's folder, featuring a perfect menu of exotic materials. However, Jason Luhmer's ability to expertly profile a knife of this size allows the user to complete tasks far outside of its intended category.

A true three finger handle, the Calypto is secure in hand due to its sweeping cut out. For and aft movements are met with a handle widened on either end to prevent slipping. The blade itself being tall for its length, offers plenty of curve for longer cuts. The swedged drop point will enthusiastically pierce, while the handle profile will support a carpenter's style grip when more force is needed.

Eminently pocketable at 3.5” closed, the Calypso lives up to its name. Starting with the expertly ground swedged drop point, the 2.5” blade is made from striking Nichols XHP Core Damascus. Dual titanium thumb studs deploy the drop point riding on Skiff ceramic bearings when opening. The blade is held fast by a ceramic detent when closed.

The handle assembly is a beautiful integration of materials and construction. The liner lock frame has our triple fullers milled deep in the vintage yellow micarta slabs behind the zirconium pivot. The custom pivot itself is stunningly constructed with a zirconium inlay.

Finer details include the 3D milled pocket clip and backspacer in Black Timascus that offers subtle contrast from the rest of the knife. Jason Lumher seamlessly blends the best materials with practical design cues to create a style all his own. The LumaBlades Calypto is a stunning gentleman's knife destined to be handed down to the next generation.

Behind the Scenes with LumaBlades

Jason Luhmer comes from a law enforcement background as well as working in the trades. He is an avid outdoorsman. He has always worked with his hands and created things, including building guitars and furniture, and restoring classic cars and motorcycles. Making his first knife opened his eyes to the skills needed to make high quality folding knives, a craft he has relentlessly pursued.

He is dedicated to the creation of 100% American made knives. His drive and determination to achieve the highest quality is taken very seriously. Every knife is sole authorship, made in his shop using only the highest quality materials. From CAD design, to cutting out the blanks, heat treatment to the grinding of the blades and any CNC work that is done. Nothing is outsourced with the exception of Cerekote service. His goal is to provide the customer with a lifetime of satisfaction by owning one of his knives with the assurance that the maker whom they bought from has personally handled every aspect of their manufacture
