Overview

Precision-tuned for movement, load, and changing conditions, the Javelin Anorak is a technical insulator built to operate across a wide spectrum of climates and output levels. Lightweight, adaptive, and exceptionally efficient, it delivers warmth where it’s needed most while actively regulating heat during sustained effort.

Targeted Polartec® Alpha® insulation is mapped through the torso, shoulders, and biceps to protect the body’s thermal core and minimize heat loss in exposed zones. Along the back and arms, a breathable synthetic grid manages moisture and excess heat, especially in areas compressed by packs or load-bearing equipment. This hybrid construction creates a balanced thermal system that resists overheating under exertion while preserving warmth during stops, transitions, and variable output.

Designed as a true four-season midlayer, the Javelin performs equally well as a stand-alone insulator in cool to moderate conditions or layered beneath a shell when temperatures drop or weather turns. Highly compressible and pack-efficient, it delivers outsized performance without competing for space when every cubic inch matters.

At the core of the Javelin’s performance is Polartec® Alpha®, a revolutionary insulation developed in collaboration with U.S. Special Forces to meet the demands of dynamic movement in unpredictable environments. Alpha provides continuous warmth and breathability during both high-output activity and rest phases, eliminating the need for constant layering adjustments in the field.

Polartec® Power Grid™ panels complement this system with a unique grid construction that enhances airflow, accelerates moisture transport, and reduces fabric mass. Placed strategically in high-heat, high-compression zones, Power Grid ensures efficient thermal regulation and rapid drying - critical advantages during cool-weather movement under load.

The result is an insulator engineered not just for warmth, but for control - capable, adaptive, and ready for sustained use when conditions and tempo refuse to stay constant.

WHAT IS Polartec® Alpha™?

Polartec®Alpha™ is an innovative active insulation designed to adapt to changing conditions by effectively regulating heat and moisture. Originally developed for the US Special Forces to effortlessly handle the stop-go conditions of active combat, Polartec®Alpha™is available in different lightweight compositions and can be worn as a direct, next-to-skin fabric. By keeping you warm when needed and releasing excess heat during high-exertion activities, it is ideal for outdoor activities.

HOW DOES Polartec® Alpha™ WORK?

Polartec®Alpha™uses a lofted fiber structure with a mesh core, allowing warm air retention when needed and enhanced airflow during movement. This active thermal-management system prevents overheating and keeps you comfortable in unpredictable environments.

Polartec® Power Grid™ is an ultralight fleece base layer fabric designed by Polartec® to optimize body temperature regulation. Featuring a patented grid construction, Power Grid™ delivers warmth without weight, while its bi-component knit technology enhances moisture-wicking and breathability.

HOW DOES Polartec® Power Grid™ WORK?

The grid fleece design of Polartec® Power Grid™ creates open air channels that trap heat when needed and release excess warmth during activity. This dynamic thermoregulation ensures consistent comfort in changing conditions.

The bi-component knit wicks moisture away from the skin and spreads it across the outer surface for fast evaporation, preventing saturation and keeping you dry during movement.

The innovative grid construction of Polartec® Power Grid™ contains discreet areas of higher loft with voids in between, creating increased airflow in and around the fabric. Travelling via these airflows, body moisture vapor is quickly transported away for exceptional breathability.
