Overview

From Deadwood to Mogadishu, denim jeans have been a staple of the capable from the frontier to the fire fight. Celebrating our first decade in denim, the Intercept SV program combines exceptional fabrics and heritage construction techniques with the highly capable features the Intercept is known for.

Intercept SV includes selvedge details on the continuous fly and welted coin pockets, chainstitched hems and waistbands, and flat-felled inseams and back rise. Invented in San Francisco by David Neustadter and patented in 1877, the continuous fly increases the durability and extends the  lifetime of pants and overalls by strengthening the garment at the point where the two inner seams meet.

Produced in small, carefully controlled batches on antique shuttle looms, selvedge denim has a tighter, denser weave than regular denim and its clean-finished edges are prized for their character and heritage.

Care Instructions

There are a variety of ways to safely wash quality denim. The easiest is to turn them inside out and wash them in cold water on the gentle cycle in the washing machine using a gentle detergent, such as Woolite.  We recommend washing them separately the first few times to avoid any potential for bleeding dye onto your other clothes. Hang dry to prolong the life of your denim.

Kuroki

In the world of premium denim, few mills carry the prestige of Kuroki, a Japanese fabric house renowned for its dedication to craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability. Nestled in the famed Okayama Prefecture, Kuroki has been producing some of the world’s finest selvedge denim since the 1970s. While most denim purists gravitate toward indigo-dyed fabrics, the rise of black selvedge has created a new niche for those seeking a modern, understated aesthetic with the same meticulous attention to detail.

The Kuroki 11.2oz black selvedge denim represents a perfect balance between heritage craftsmanship and contemporary wearability. Unlike heavier selvedge fabrics that require a lengthy break-in period, this 11.2oz weight offers immediate comfort while still retaining the structure and durability expected from shuttle-loom-woven denim. 

This fabric’s story is rooted in both tradition and evolution. In the late 20th century, Kuroki expanded its dyeing expertise beyond indigo, developing rich black finishes that would later become a favorite among denim aficionados. Rugged & Reliable

Hidden triple needle flat felling on the inseam, flat felled back rise, and a continuous fly provide lasting durability. Bartacks secure all critical attachment points, and TAD diamond reinforcements protect pockets from premature wear from knife or tool clips.
