Combining the lightweight, high performance engineering of approach shoes and the wearability of old school court shoes, the Ghostwing platform brings elite performance to every adventure.
The Nomad edition features yak leather long cherished by Tibetans for its resilience and ability to withstand the toughest conditions. Its fine and uniform texture make it a top choice for high-quality leather goods. The thin compact woven collagen fiber and closed fine grain of yak leather give it a distinct multi-seasonal versatility, making it an ideal material for the Ghostwing platform.
The softness and suppleness of yak leather ensure comfort during your daring escapades, while its breathability keeps you fresh and dry. Whether you're braving the cold of winter or venturing out in warmer weather, yak leather is designed to perform.
Stout and resilient yak leather features subtle laser engraved topo and a finish that resists scratches and scuffs, helping you bear your burdens from boardrooms to backcountry. As one of the strongest natural leathers in the world due to the extreme conditions in which yak thrive, yak leather requires only half of the thickness to achieve the same heat insulation and toughness of cow leather.
Ghostwing's 3D outsole features Vibram Megagrip, a high performance rubber compound featuring unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces, rugged longevity and optimal ground adaptability. The anti-clog lug profile has been developed to self-clean and expel dirt and mud.
The aggressive top line of the collar drops dramatically over the Achilles tendon, allowing unrestricted movement in toe-down angles. An internal heal counter is mirrored externally with sintered rubber for exceptional stability and protection. A full-grain calfskin lining with a smooth finish throughout reduces friction and distributes heat.
Fully molded to the last and topped with calfskin leather for durability and comfort, the open-cell PU foam footbed is 95% breathable. This allows air to circulate in and around the insole, keeping your foot cooler inside the shoe and reducing drying time. The footbed also has an extremely low compression-set, resulting in very little loss of resiliency over its lifespan.
Braided nylon laces move smoothly through custom speedlace eyelets, distributing pressure evenly.
The tongue and quarters are built around a custom developed open-cell foam, reducing the overall thickness of the upper and tongue while retaining rigidity. A second pair of laces is included.
Every surface and material was considered and developed with non-reflective properties. The matte PVD speedlace finisher features a machined ball bearing which rolls while engaging, reducing pull-friction, and even the speedlace eyelets were engineered in a non-reflecting finish.
An integrated nylon webbing loop aides
entry/removal and also doubles as a hang loop for securing wet or muddy shoes outside your pack.
HIMALAYAN YAK LEATHER
BEASTS OF BURDEN
For thousands of years, Tibetan nomads have relied on yaks to help traverse the rugged terrain of the majestic Himalayan region and serve as “beasts of burden” to carry out physically arduous tasks. From exploring the high-altitude grasslands, where these hardy creatures have roamed for generations, to daily duties, these animals have adapted to the harsh conditions of the roof of the world.
Perched about 14,500 feet above sea level, the Yak thrives in extreme conditions where the summer months are still cool, with temperatures ranging between 37°F to 63°F and temperatures ranging between -13°F to 30°F in the harsh winter months.
The yak's natural adaptation to the extreme cold climate of the Himalayas means its thick, heavy skin is designed to keep it warm in the harshest conditions. Packed with fatty tissue that acts as a natural insulator, yak hides are a testament to nature's ingenuity. These qualities protect yaks from extreme weather, which allows them to produce exceptional multi-season leather.
