Overview

Andrew Demko’s innovation in the custom knife world includes several unique and incredibly strong locking mechanisms for folders. The American-made Shark-A-Tac TAD Edition features the Shark Lock on this latest design. This self-adjusting lockback mechanism features a stop pin that redistributes the load of vertical positive and negative pressures on the lock and transfers it into the handle frame where it can be more effectively absorbed. The Shark lock, unlike most lockbacks, is easy to deploy and not hindered in any way. The knife opens and closes as fast as a frame lock on bearings. The Shark lock requires little effort to disengage; just pull back on the natural ramp and swing the blade closed.

The Demko Shark-A-Tac TAD Edition is an extremely stout knife built to handle most any task you could ever ask of a folder. This edition has a 3.5” Magnacut blade and full flat machine ground for incredibly aggressive cutting power. This TAD Edition is up for heavy duty work. The ergonomic and robust titanium handle gives the knife a secure feel in the hand due to the pronounced dropped forward guard. The stainless steel spring pocket clip is set up for tip-up carry, with ambidextrous mounting holes.

A first for the Demko lineup, the Shark-A-Tac introduces an integrated carbide glass breaker at the base of the handle, expanding its capabilities. For our edition we opted for a lower pocket profile that minimizes the risk of snagging on gear or clothing. This version has a smoothed-out, rounded carbide ball that remains highly effective without the sharp edge.

Build quality and innovative design are the hallmarks of this Shark-A-Tac TAD Edition. These knives are made to exacting standards and are as unique as they are durable. Our TAD Edition comes with our signature multi layer topo pattern laser applied on the slabs with three diagonal milled lines as a nod to our Dauntless. The rich blue distressed anodized finish contrasts beautifully with the laser applied topo. Finally our logo rests on the presentation side of the blade base.

Due to the nature of custom items, slight variations may occur.

Behind the Scenes with Demko Knives

Demko Knives owner and founder Andrew Demko first began forging chisels in 1988, when he was in the seventh grade. He realized this was his passion and began forging knives immediately. Like so many bladesmiths, Andrew began his journey from his garage, hammering out blade shapes and sharpening them on a small but manageable grinder.

While pursuing his dream, Andrew’s passion for engineering and attention to detail was noticed by Cold Steel. With Cold Steel, Andrew went on to engineer some of the most innovative and strongest locking mechanisms in the industry. The legendary Tri-Ad Lock, the Scorpion Lock, and most recently, a one-handed operator's dream, the Shark Lock.

Since the sale of Cold Steel, Andrew has grown his business to include his brother John Demko. John brings expertise to custom manufacturing, sales and fabrication.

Also joining the team is long-time friend and fellow knife maker, Mike Wallace.

Both John and Mike have knife designs that are being manufactured and distributed throughout the knife industry.
