This limited batch of 500 is a careful and studied balance of both the most elegant and classic M-65 elements chosen from 50 years of evolution, combined with modern re-imaginations and signature TAD details.

First issued to service personnel in 1965, the M-65 was designed as a cold weather jacket to replace the previous revisions from 1943 and 1951. From its first deployments in Vietnam to modern frontiers, the M-65 withstood the test of time, becoming a cultural icon still in use half a century later.

Our take on the durable and versatile shell jacket was an exercise in proportion and restraint. Featuring a modern but relaxed fit, bi-swing back, and articulated sleeves for freedom of movement, classic details such as a locking waist cinch, adjustable cuffs, stowable hood, and button-down collar help you adapt to your changing environment.

A modernized take on the original, the liner jacket was re-imagined as a fully functional stand-alone piece. Built with Polartec® Power Fill™ for light and compact warmth, the combination of functionality and flexibility delivers versatility without excess bulk or weight. Strategically reinforced with our legendary Amphibious Cloth, the liner jacket brings the M-65 heritage into the 21st century.

  • Legendary Heritage

The shell is built from an elegant, durable canvas of nylon and cotton from the historic Halley Stevensons mill in Dundee, Scotland. Established in 1864, Halley Stevensons is renowned for their extraordinary weatherproof fabrics and meticulous quality.

Custom-milled for us from high-tenacity nylon and long-staple cotton, the shell is unwaxed, finished with a high quality DWR, and richly dyed to TAD's signature olive drab.

  • Modular Insulation

Featuring the distinctive hourglass quilting pattern of the issued liner and insulated with Polartec® Power Fill™, the removable M-65 liner can be zipped into the M-65 for added warmth, or worn as a standalone jacket.

Reinforced for standalone wear, the liner jacket features Amphibious Cloth material on the shoulders and lower arms.

  • Thermal Regulation

Polartec® Power Fill™ is a soft and pliable matrix of polyester engineered with a proprietary hollow fiber construction that is softer and more durable, forming thousands of air pockets that continuously capture and contain body heat, while maintaining a resilient, equalized thermal layer between the colder air on the outside and the warmer temperatures on the inside.

  • Moisture Management

The DWR treated shell works in conjunction with the hydrophobic properties of Polartec® Power Fill™ to resist moisture absorption and dries quickly, while maintaining a high warmth to weight ratio.  Made with industry-leading, cruelty-free, 80% post-consumer recycled content, Power Fill™ insulation technology provides greater warmth retention in colder conditions.

  • Accessible Storage

Two covertly bellowed upper chest pockets and two front cargo pockets provide ample and accessible storage. Hidden snap closures keep your contents secure, and flaps tuck away for easy access.

  • Weather Protection

A hood provides protection from light moisture. When not in use, the hood stows away in the stand-up collar.
