People Operations Manager (HR Generalist) PDF

Triple Aught Design (“TAD”) is a rapidly growing adventure brand headquartered in San Francisco, CA with additional locations in Old Fort, North Carolina and Boulder, Colorado. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and retailer of apparel and equipment, purpose built for capable people. We sell our products directly through our website, SF retail store, and a few select international retail partners.

We are seeking an experienced HR professional at our new Old Fort, North Carolina factory. The role is both a key strategic partner to the leadership team and a valuable resource for team members. They will be a driving force in building our team and culture as we expand in North Carolina. This role will be responsible for HR across the entire company and reports to the CFO. The ideal candidate will have a solution-oriented focus with attention to detail, as well as experience overseeing multiple locations across the United States.

Core Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

Human Resources

    • Oversee all HR functions for TAD in its three locations, San Francisco-CA, Old Fort-NC, and Boulder-CO.

    • Manage and maintain human resources systems (files and software).

    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including reporting requirements; review policies and practices to maintain compliance. 

    • Develop a robust employee development and review process.

    • Run bi-weekly payroll.

    • Ensure that OSHA safety standards are met.

    • Maintain relationships and support managers on HR issues across operations and locations.

    • Manage workers compensation, employee relations, and benefits administration.

    • Own the staffing lifecycle for the entire company: posting, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.

    • Maintain accurate records of active job openings and applications; manage internal and external job postings. Review applications for entry-level and non-exempt positions; conduct and schedule  interviews.

    • Maintain employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.

    • Conduct or assist with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.

    • Ensure that the equipment and supplies needs are met, especially for incoming new hires, in a timely fashion.

    • Respond appropriately using independent judgment, knowledge of organization, and personal initiative.

Office Management for NC Location

    • Oversee all office operations including facilities support, research and purchase of office supplies, equipment; maintain inventory levels for pantry and supplies.

    • Improve systems in place, internal customer service, support and maximize team efficiency.

    • Support other departments with input and maintenance to systems (for example, learning the accounting system to assist with invoice entry).

    • Support management in ad hoc projects.

    • Other administrative duties as needed.

    • Create and maintain local business relationships.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business or HR.

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and determine priorities without supervision.

  • Experience with G-Suite and HR software (Paylocity and Zenefits).

  • Prior experience with California,  Colorado, and/or North Carolina employment law and practices is a definite plus.

  • Proven track record in employee management and internal customer service.

  • Experience working closely with executives.

  • Prior experience with working in a fast-paced, roll up your sleeves environment is a plus.

  • Desired 3+ years of HR management experience.

  • A plus if you have HR experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

    • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

    • Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.

    • Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible work environment.

    • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment; due to the nature of the work at the Old Fort facility, the environment can be noisy.

    Must be able to travel domestically utilizing various transportation methods.
